Kids hauled over by strong Conference side
As expected, a Palace reserve side took to the field on Tuesday evening (20/7) for the pre-season match against Woking although in a lot of respects it can't even be claimed to be quite that, as Palace included two trialists including Mario Noto (pictured), recently released by Reading and one lad from last season's under-19 academy side who'd been on trial from Whyteleafe, amongst others from the reserves.
The result was therefore a slight foregone conclusion as a team largely consisting of Woking first team players ran out 2-0 winners against the Eagles.
Kit Symons took control of the side for the evening (from the bench), and although Palace bossed the early possession, they created little of note goal wise until Elliott Onouchie on trial from Tooting and Mitcham, tested the 'keeper with a shot from inside the left hand side of the penalty area.
Just prior to that, a Woking cross shot had hit the bar, and Stephen Evans (once of Palace himself and on trial after being released by Brentford) missed a sitter at the near post for them.
Woking scored on the 33rd minute, Ian Selley converting a penalty past Cedric Berthalin after a Woking attacker had bumped into Nathan Simpson inside the box.
The second goal arrived just on the stroke of half time, and the second half played out with Woking enjoying large slices of the possession, with neither side creating much of note.
That new home kit, reminiscent of 94/95/96 does look good though .....
