Dougie magic secures unlikely point
Dougie Freedman was again the Curse of Wolverhampton with a fantastic mlate equaliser.
Freedman, had received a similarly hostile reception to Mark Kennedy after coming on as a substitute, silenced the home crowd after clinicly volleying home a long punt down field that was flicked on, fairly aimlessly it has to be siad, by Shefki Kuqi.
Despite this glorious finish, the game was a poor one. Like the previous Saturday up at Deepdale, Palace lacked any desire to go forward, whilst Wolves for all their possession looked shot-shy and nervous around the goal.
In reality, Lewis Gobern's fortuitous free-kick should have been enough. He curled 20-yard free-kick in the 63rd minute that was intended as a cross but somehow managed to evade everyone - including Palace goalkeeper Iain Turner - before creeping inside the post.
Palace only decent other chance came early on when Michael Hughes forced a good save from Matt Murray early on with a rasping 25-yard drive and they never really looked like getting back into the game after conceding. Wolves clearly decided to settle on the one goal lead. Indeed by removing their greatest threats in Daniel Jones and Kemal Johnson. Jones’s replacement new loan signing Michael McIndoe had an early chance but that was about it.
Ultimately, they were to pay a heavy price for their over-confidence.
