Reserves notch their first win in their new home.

Palace overcame a young West ham side with ease after a confidence boosting early goal.

Palace took the lead through midfielder Lewwis Spence on 13 minutes, who drilled the ball home from the edge of the box after good work by triallist Charlie Sheringham.

West Ham’s only chance of note fell to Kyel Reid, but Palace never really looked that threatened with the two Dannys as our full backs allowing Jerahl Hughes and Rhoys Wiggins to get forward. Glenn Wilson again led his team well, which will hopefully force the club the look again at their decision to release him this summer.

Depsite Palace’s dominance of the game, it took until the 80th minute to make the game safe. Lewis Grabban turned Liam White on the edge of the penalty area and was tripped by the Hammers defender in the box. The referee pointed to the spot immediately and Grabban, after a short argument with Sheringham about who would take the kick, fired home from 12 yards.

Palace: Wilkinson, Butterfield (Dayton 45), Granville, Straker, Wilson, Fray, Hughes (Swaibu 70), Spence (Kudjodi 80), Grabban, Sheringham, Wiggins Subs not used: Lyons, Pearson
