Reserves make it two in a row

Palace reserves made it two welcome wins in a row last night (27/3), with a 3-1 victory in the Premier reserve league over this Friday's first team opponents Watford, at Borehamwood's non-league ground.

Palace lined up with a strong side, no doubt with an eye to keeping players match fit and also possibly making a couple of first team changes this weekend.

With a number of players available for use from the first team, Glenn Wilson switched to right back, with Dougie Freedman in front of him and Gary Borrowdale operated on the left of midfield, which left Andrews and Macken as the partnership upfront.

The first goal duly arrived just before the quarter hour mark when Jon Macken struck with a shot from inside the area, following on from Marco Reich's good work on the right wing.

Palace them made it two only minutes later. Reich again the provider, this time a corner onto the unmarked head of Tony Popovic.

The one way traffic continued into the second half when Reich added the third himself. Cutting in from the right wing he struck a shot past experienced 'keeper Alec Chamberlain, and despite an unfortunate late own goal from Glenn Wilson (as he reacted to a cross with his head) the result was never in any doubt.

Palace Team: Speroni, Wilson, Granville, Soares, Hudson, Popovic, Reich, Andrews, Freedman, Macken, Borrowdale

Subs: Straker, Wilkinson, Fray (For Popovic '65), Grabban (For Freedman '65), Starkey (For Soares '58)
