Second consecutive defeat for Palace's second eleven
Played on a cold and wet day at Norwich's training ground in the afternoon (after the venue was switched at Palace's request) this game yesterday (1/3) never really threatened to explode into action at any point, and as a result neither side particularly raised their tempo and got going.
Palace eventually went down to a 1-0 defeat late into the second half.
Palace included the majority of players that had been turning out recently at reserve level, although there was a place in the side for youngster Tyrone Berry. With Mark Hudson and Tony Popovic missing, Gary Borrowdale filled in at centre back, with Ryan Hall restricted to a left back role.
Norwich mustered several half chance first half efforts, the majority of which were shots wide of goal. Julian Speroni had to make one decent save, when he was called into action in the 27th minute, making a save from Norwich's Safri. The home side went closer when Paul McVeigh had a header cleared off the line, while Palace replied with a long range drive from Ben Watson that 'keeper Darren Ward had to make a save from.
The second half presented little of any note, and Norwich won the match with the game's only goal on 80 minutes, when Irish international Phil Mulryne fired a low shot past Julian Speroni.
Palace remain second in the Premier reserve league South, but are seven points adrift of league leaders Charlton, with both sides now having played an equal number of games.
Palace Team: (4-4-2) Speroni, Wilson, R.Hall, Watson, Togwell, Borrowdale, Kolkka, Danze, Shipperley, Torghelle, Berry
Subs: Welch, Banks, Wiggins, Starkey, Grabban
