Palace second string concede first defeat of the season
With many of our usual reserve side involved in first team the League Cup action the night before, Kit Symons was left with a very young side to face a strong Charlton line-up at Welling Utd.
They acquitted themselves well with Ryan Hall, once again catching the eye. The Charlton goal came early on and had an element of good fortune about it. Wesley Beckles was tracking his man, when he was forced to pull up with a muscle pull leaving Rurik Gislason, with a clear sight of goal.
The best chance of the second half fell to Palace, Hall forcing a fine save from Elliot in the Charlton goal.
Palace: Banks; Straker, Beckles, Wilson, Wiggins; Berry, R Hall, Starkey, Kudjodi (J Hughes 65); Peltonen (T Lyons 70), Grabban. Subs not used: Wilkinson, Fish, Marshall.
