County cull Palace in Cup upset
Concentrating on the League then are we, Mr Taylor? In fairness to him, he expressed his disgust as what was mainly a second string side stumbled to an embarassing League Cup defeat.
Although taking the lead through a tricky Michael Hughes goal, Palace were quickly pegged back and in a second half that showed no invention at all, where put to the swiord by a late, but deserved County winner.
The 17th Minute goal by Hughes was a thing of beauty in the morass. Accepting the ball from the otherwise anonymous Marco Reich, he powered his way into the box brushing aside his markers and unleashed a stunning left foot drive into the top corner.
The Magpies responded well at six minutes later were level after an unstoppable volley from the much travelled Lawrie Dudfield.
The second half saw Palace huff and puff, but completely failed to blow the Notts County defence down. Jon Macken's abysmal showing in a forward role was a particular disappointment, but he wasn't the only one who was way below par tonight and on 84th minute Palace were rightfully punished for the laissez-faire attitude.
Liam Needham drove a stiff low cross from the left which Daniel Martin finished clinically again giving Scoot Flinders little chance. Palace's response was predictably powder-puff.
